Kohler’s perspective of the year, Dimensions of Wellbeing explores the relationship between our physical environment and wellbeing. At its heart, Dimensions of Wellbeing is a simple idea. It correlates our physical spaces with our overall health and wellbeing. This perspective is supported by five foundational observations that focus on the understanding of how hygiene and wellbeing can be improved through architecture and design.
These foundational observations are Environmentalism and Empowerment (how fresh air, sunlight and soothing landscapes impact our mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing), Form, Flow and Function (how the functionality of space creates peace of mind), Technology (how the intuitiveness of smart technology attends to our personal needs), Evolving Spaces (how changing conventions are redefining our personal spaces), and Inter/Intrapersonal Connection (how connection makes every space a little more human).
The basic condition for a space to be able to support wellbeing is cleanliness and hygiene, for both the physical space and ourselves. Cleanliness and hygiene have been core values at Kohler for more than 145 years, creating spaces and environments that unite form with function to address these basic yet crucial needs.
